Police and a nearby school have said they can find no evidence to substantiate reports circulating today on social media of an alleged abduction attempt in West Ewell.
What has been reported on Twitter and Facebook is that a man tried to abduct a two-year-old near a West Ewell school this morning.
But West Ewell Infant School said they had heard the rumours but there was no truth in them whatsoever.
At 4.30pm a police spokeswoman said she could find no trace of the incident in the police log.
