Cockerels and chickens are allowed to wake up residents at 5.30 am every morning, including weekends, to continue squawking for another couple of hours and then start again in the evening.
But I am not allowed to play music at full blast in my garden at unsociable times of the day (I'm quite a big fan of Thrash Metal).
Croydon Council can only write a letter to the owners of my persistently noisy neighbours to recommend they keep their beaks shut for longer during the early morning.
But I could get a visit from an Pollution Enforcement Officer for 'unreasonable noise'.
This is noise pollution double standards.
Over the years, I have got used to traffic noise at the front of the house and I used to enjoy the peace of quiet at the back, particularly on a Saturday and Sunday morning. Not any more.
