Thalia Poaros, of Teddington Swimming Club, swam to her second national qualifying time at the London Secondary Schools Championships at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The 11-year-old, pictured, already holds a 100m butterfly age group national qualifying time, that she swam during the Middlesex County Championships in March, and now she can add the 200m butterfly to the list.

She will now compete in both events at July’s National Age Group Championships in Sheffield.

At Crystal Palace, Thalia, who attends Teddington School, won four gold medals in the 11/12 year age group, while team-mate Mika Vennema-Osborne, 13, claimed a bronze medal as Teddington finished third overall.

Twelve-year-old Alice Patterson, also of Teddington Swimming Club, represented Waldegrave Girls’ School at the championships and scooped a silver and two bronze medals.

Meanwhile, the club’s swimmers were in fine form at the level one Guildford City open meeting, winning seven gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze medals.
