An aspiring performer has been granted a place at the UK's oldest theatre school.

Jade Stanger, 20, of Putney, made it through tough auditions to bag a place at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, in East London.

The school produced the likes of Bonny Langford, Pixie Lott and Russell Brand.

Miss Stanger, a former BRIT School student, has sang solo at the Putney Exchange, Battersea Arts Centre and took part in Wandsworth Weekend.

She attends Dance Attic during the week and volunteers at Pineapple Performing Arts School, in Covent Garden.

Father Robert Stanger said: "She has been working extremely hard since she was at the BRIT School for performing arts in year 10, but always seemed to miss out on opportunities at the last hurdle and at one point she had a serious hamstring injury.

"She is on cloud nine and over the moon."
