A six-week consultation process on how Elmbridge Council plans to manage future developments will begin on Monday.

Proposals are to be published by the council, outlining potential sites for development and how they will be managed on a day-to-day basis.

The consultation is an opportunity for residents to have their say, and the council urged people to tell it what kind of development they would like to see and where.

Options for the location and type of development will be set out in eight settlement, investment and development (ID) plans, while day-to-day policies about how planning applications will be assessed will be outlined in the development management plan.

Each ID plan will cover a different settlement in the borough and, as well as identifying key sites for development, will designate areas, such as open spaces, that will be protected from development.

The council hopes the plans will allow a more proactive approach to managing development and allow decisions to be made locally about long term development in Elmbridge.

Plans under consultation will be available to view at the planning services department’s consultation portal consult.elmbridge.gov.uk.
