An autistic man who took his search for love on to TV proved so popular an unknown fan got a tattoo of his face and catchphrase.

A 26-year-old from Coulsdon, who wants only to be known as Michael, appeared on the Channel 4 show The Undateables, earlier this month and viewers saw him go on a date to Matthews Yard with a lady called Helen.

Following advice from his mum, Nicky, when Michael was asked about his former girlfriends he enthusiastically told his date “Aha! A gentleman never tells.”

His catchphrase proved so popular, someone posted a picture of a tattoo they had done of the catchphrase around Michael’s picture.

But the identity of the person remains a mystery.

Despite enjoying a second date bowling after filming finished last year, Michael and Helen decided to just be friends, so his search for a woman to make his “mind, body and soul all into one” continues.

He said: “We went on another date to Tenpin, but Helen asked if we could just be friends. It can be a bit disappointing, but I did enjoy being on the show.”

Since appearing on the The Undateables Michael’s profile page has been inundated with messages of support.

He said: “I have been single for three months, but my ambition is to get married and have two kids.”
