Three people have been arrested for attempting to pull over cars on the M25 in a fake police car.  

A 23-year-old woman from Chelmsford, a 23-year-old man from Chelmsford, and a 16-year-old girl from Reading were jointly arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft, impersonating a police officer and using a vehicle purporting to be an emergency services vehicle.

They have been released on bail until January 9.

Police were called on Tuesday evening, December 18, after reports of a silver Ford Mondeo, equipped with blue flashing lights, on the M25 clockwise at Leatherhead, indicating for other drivers to pull over.

Police officers from the roads policing unit attended the scene and a vehicle matching the description given was stopped near junction 11 of the M25 10 minutes later.
