A wedding shop was the star of hit TV show Don't Tell The Bride this week.

Cloud 9 in Cheam Village had a surprise visit from BBC TV crews last month, but owner Jenny Caddy had been sworn to secrecy until the show was aired last night (Tuesday 18).

The programme, which sees a boyfriend trusted with £12k to spend on his and his fiancée's wedding, this week had its Christmas special.

But the special nearly turned into a TV car crash when girlfriend Rosie refused to marry her boyfriend Nick after seeing the wedding dress he had chosen from the wedding shop.

Boyfriend Nick also bought bridesmaid dresses, shoes, and a tiara from the Grade II listed shop on The Broadway, Cheam, which Mrs Caddy opened four years ago.

Mrs Caddy, who has been married for 39 years so knows a thing or two about marriage, said she felt for the bride.

She said: "She didn't like the dress and I really felt for her. She was crying which was hard to watch because I'm used to seeing brides cry with pleasure, not through being upset.

She was calling her boyfriend all kinds of names, which they obviously couldn't show on telly."

But it all came together, despite locking herself in her toilet on the morning of the big day, as the couple went to Brighton Pavilion for Winter Wonderland-themed wedding.

Mrs Caddy, said: "They came back to the shop after the wedding and Rosie apologised. She was very apologetic, and she didn't need to do that. I'm just happy they are together and they are both happy now."
