A dynamic software company which is a business partner to Microsoft and has doubled its profits during the recession is celebrating winning a top IT award.

Bytes Software Services, which has its headquarters in Chessington Road, Ewell, won the Enterprise IT Reseller of the Year award at this year’s Computer Reseller News Awards.

Bytes has been based in Ewell for 20 years and has grown "from strength to strength" in recent years.  Despite the recession, the company’s turnover has doubled to £130m and staff numbers have increased to more than 150 across two locations.

Neil Murphy, managing director, and a group of his colleagues picked up the award from comedian Ed Byrne in front of nearly 2,000 attendees at the awards ceremony held at Battersea Park, London, last month.

The company, winning the award for the second year running, provides software licensing services, security services and managed print, and became a business partner to computer giant Microsoft this year, helping it to sell its services to corporate businesses.

The award recognises Byte’s excellence in the delivery of solutions, service and support to customers and companies "that demonstrates innovation in developing and bringing-to-market new concepts and solutions".

Mr Muprhy said: "We are thrilled to receive this coveted award in recognition of our contribution as an exceptional reseller in a crowded and competitive market.

"As ever, our staff has played a huge part - their dedication and hard work is reflected in the great and longstanding relationships we have with our customers and vendors.

"We are also delighted to win this so soon after becoming Microsoft’s number one partner selling to corporate businesses - we’ve had a superb year."
