Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious collision between a female pensioner and a Peugeot 206 in Balham.

Emergency services were called just after 5pm on Sunday (December 16) to reports of a vehicle in collision with an elderly pedestrian.

They arrived at Nightingale Lane, near to the junction of Ramsden Road, and found a woman in her mid 80s collapsed with a head injury.

She was taken to a south west London hospital in a serious condition, where she remains at this this time.

A spokesman for the Met Police said: "We understand that a silver Peugeot 206 been travelling east along Nightingale Lane, when it collided with the elderly female."

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and has spoken to officers.
