A market research company was shortlisted for the Greenest Business award at a ceremony.

The London European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) awards event aimed to showcase the talent of companies receiving the fund.

Kadence International, based in Putney and Waterloo, helped develop the Greening Business programme at Merton Chamber of Commerce.

The council now have a switch off policy in place to keep their equipment, heating, cooling and lighting systems off when not needed.

They also have replaced old inefficient fluorescent tubes with more energy efficient retrofit options, saving 64 per cent on their lighting energy use.

The project is funded by the ERDF fund and is free of charge for eligible businesses.

Sipiwe Bvunzai, senior insight analyst at Kadence, said "We are delighted to have been able to get this free support from the Greening Business project and the help we received from our Greening adviser, Greice Tavares, helped us identify simple, cost-effective measures which have resulted in real financial benefits.

"Being shortlisted for the ERDF Greenest Business award was a bonus."

The company was shortlisted at a ceremony which took place in City Hall on Monday.
