A doctor is urging people to give blood and ‘save a life’ this Christmas.
Dr James Marsh, a leading doctor at Epsom, Sutton and St Helier Hospitals, is calling on the public to give the gift of life this year.
There are sessions today from 1.30pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7.30pm at Bourne Hall, Spring Street, Ewell.
Dr Marsh, deputy medical director and consultant renal physician, said: "We realise that this time of year is extremely busy for many people, but our patients still depend on blood transfusions to help improve their health, or even save their life.
"That’s why we’re asking that local people still try to find time to donate blood - it shouldn’t take long to do, but your contribution could make a huge difference to a person in their hour of need."
Anyone aged between 17 and 65, weighing more than 50 kg and in general good health could potentially become a blood donor.
There are sessions between 2.00pm and 4.30pm and 5.30pm and 8pm at St Paul's Church Hall, Warren Road, Banstead, on December 11.
For more information about donating blood or to find more sessions near you call 0300 123 23 23 or visit www.blood.co.uk.
