Southfields is set to host its first Christmas lights switch-on ceremony tomorrow.

The inaugural event will see Philip Brook, chairman of The All England Lawn Tennis Club, turn on the lights in Southfields on Monday, December 3.

Anyone wanting to welcome in the festive season by watching the switch on ceremony can do so at 5pm next to Southfields tube station.

The event has been made possible by the generous support of the All England Club - under an agreement with the Southfields Business Association.

Mr Brook, chairman of the All England Club, said: "2012 marked 90 years of shared history between Southfields village and The Championships and we are pleased to be broadening our support for the local community in this way."

Further festive celebrations are due to take place later in the month when, on December 15, children visiting the area will be able to meet Father Christmas - and even pick up an early Christmas present from the man himself.
