As the star-studded pantos at the big theatres come to an end, it's the turn of the smaller companies and amateur dramatics clubs.

Mother Goose by the Desborough Players

Mother Goose may not be the most popular tale these days but it certainly has longevity having first appeared more than 200 years ago. The story sees Mother Goose saved from eviction from her land when a fairy sends her Priscilla the goose, who lays golden eggs. But when Mother Goose gives up Priscilla in return for beauty, she soon learns good looks are not everything and that she must get Priscilla back.

Babes in the Wood by Cobham Players

Cobham Players perform Stephen Duckman's pantomime version of Babes in the Wood at Cobham Village Hall. When their father dies, two young children are entrusted into the care of the evil Sheriff who intends to get rid of them in order to inherit their money. But to the rescue come Robin Hood and his Merry Men, aided by the lovely Maid Marion and the sheriff's bumbling henchman, who continually mess things up.

Robin Hood by Charles Court Opera ,p> There's a traditional family panto at Vera Fletcher Hall in the shape of Robin Hood. Expect some thigh-slapping humour in the funny production aided by toe-tapping routines and musical treats from pop to opera. Despite being founded just five years ago, Charles Court Opera has become one of the leading young professional theatre companies in the UK and performed more than 20 productions around the country.
