What do you get when you mix Olympic-level ice skaters with the Moscow State Circus? The unlikely answer is Snow White on Ice.

The show, which is at the New Wimbledon Theatre from November 18, is performed by the Russian Ice Stars and promises to be an icy combination of ballet, gymnastics and aerial aerobatics.

Vee Deplidge, producer of the show and a pioneer of the concept of theatre on ice, said: "I loved ballet and I loved ice skating and I thought that if you married the pair you would get the beauty and the grace of ballet with the excitement of being on ice.

"Everyone said it couldn't be done, that there wasn't enough room on a stage and skaters would need an Olympic-sized rink or they would only be able to skate in circles.

"But eventually I spoke to skaters and choreographers in Russia and found someone who said that if I was brave enough to pay for it, then they were brave enough to give it a go.

"The Russians were the best in the world at the time because they lived and breathed it. They had fire in their souls.

"We do now have a British champion skater, John Hamer, in the company.

"We also have competitors from the European and World stage, some performers from the Moscow State Circus and even the World's tallest skater, who stands at 6ft 8in in his stocking feet."

The show is choreographed by Caverliere Giuseppe Arena, a former principal dancer and a teacher at La Scala Milan Ballet Company who can lay claim to having danced with Rudolph Nureyev.

He also choreographed the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turnin.

With fans of the company ranging from the Prince of Monaco, who requested a production of Cinderella on Ice in honour of the 50th anniversary of his reign, to the rugby and Dancing On Ice star Ellery Hanley, the show is an event not to be missed.
