Full of issues relevant to today's society, We Share The Same Sky challenges modern attitudes and misconceptions.

Based on three true life stories following people from Afghanistan, Poland and Venezuela not allowed to work in this country, Banner Theatre's production confronts the issues head on with the aim of challenging peoples' ideas.

Set in the context of the financial crisis, all three stories were collected following extensive research and interviews with migrant workers and refugees who have come to the UK.

"It looks at the issue of people who are not allowed to work," said artistic director Dave Rogers, who founded the company in 1973.

"The first story is a guy who is fleeing from the Taliban in Afghanistan after they killed his brother.

"He is turned down by the Home Office and becomes illegal despite the fact he would be killed if he went back.

"It is very much a story of his campaign to stay in this country and what happens to people when we don't allow them to work.

"The second story concentrates on Polish migration to the UK. We follow a Polish Union organiser and the story revolves around the organisation of all workers no matter what their nationality is.

"The final story is based on something I did a couple of years ago in Venezuela in a workers cooperative where the workers have their own management and a lot more control over their everyday working lives than people do over here.

"They are all true stories based on interviews we have done and it is all set in the context of an economy where people make billions of pounds speculating on the stock exchange."

The company have been working with marginalised and disadvantaged communities since their conception, using a combination of theatre, music and real life video to get their message across.

"We are a campaign theatre company so we like to confront the issues and engage our audience in a debate around that," said Rogers.

"It is not just a good night out, we tend to go with the slogan, Entertainment for a Change, about changing minds and attitudes and coming up with alternative suggestions and ideas."
