Some talent show winners want rid of the tag almost as soon as they get off our television screens, but not Susan McFadden.

The Dubliner triumphed in Five's Grease is the Word back in 2007, winning the chance to play Sandy on stage in the West End.

Despite it being almost two year's since her win she was still happy to be asked about the show and doesn't mind being labelled as 'Susan McFadden, the winner of that Grease show'.

"It's really good to be asked about it as it is such a big part of my life," she said.

"I wouldn't be in this job if I hadn't done it. It would have been nice to get through a normal audition and get in that way but that's way the business is going and the way musicals are at the moment you cannot get a part in a big show without having done something on television.

"I had been in London just over a year and was auditioning for everything and not getting a break when my agent suggested the show.

"I was so wary of being on the television but in the end I thought that if I didn't do it then someone else would. I never thought I would win.

"It was a rewarding experience though and it's done what I dreamed it would do for me."

Susan, sister of former Westlife star Brian McFadden, stars as the lead role of Milly in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in which she marries Adam, played by former London's Burning and Wind Beneath my Wings singer Steven Houghton.

Adam has six brothers who live in a mountainside cottage and decide they want wives too so he comes up with an ingenious plan - kidnap them some.

"I wouldn't recommend it as a great plan to people..." chuckled Susan.

"It's been a really good tour and we have been on the road since August bar a break for winter.

"It is difficult sometimes to keep it fresh but it is like any job you are doing every day, you just have to pull it together and there are plenty of things that might happen on different nights."
