Gaming giant Eidos Interactive is set to revolutionise its Championship Manager franchise today by offering a downloadable PC version of its new football management game to fans on a ‘pay what you want’ model ahead of the usual fee of £29.99 when the game is available in store.
This marks the first time an initiative like this has ever been tried in the videogames market.
At a time when the cost of transfers in football have reached record levels, with players fetching hundreds of millions of pounds between them, this ‘pay what you want’ promotion means that all fans of the Championship Manager series only have to pay a £2.50 transaction fee plus any additional amount of their choice, starting from just a 1p. This will run until midnight on September 10th
