Caitlyn Jenner broke down in tears as she remembered a coach who was influential in her life.

The US star was born Bruce, and was an Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete, before coming out as a trans woman when she was in her late 60s.

She started to cry and had to be consoled by her I’m A Celebrity campmates as she told them about her college track coach, LD Weldon, who has since died.

“It wasn’t just track stuff, it was knowledge, about life,” she said. “And he was a really good person.”

Jenner went on: “He had so many athletes throughout his career, but he said to me that I was truly the greatest athlete he’d ever coached, and that meant a lot to me, a lot.”

Ian Wright also became emotional as he told the camp about his teacher, Mr Pigden, who took him aside and talked to him about behaving when he was disruptive in class.

“He was someone I could talk to all the time,” he said.

“When he realised I could play football, he used to say the beautiful goals are the ones that goalkeepers can’t save, he used to say that’s what I had to do.

“When I was at Arsenal running, I would always think about him, and I showed him my England cap.”

“If it wasn’t for him… I know I wouldn’t be where I am, I think about him every day,” he said.
