Countryfile viewers were left in a fluster on Sunday thanks to an episode that seemed to be full of dogging innuendo.
The genteel Sunday night BBC show was staging the classic One Man And His Dog competition when it shocked those watching with some apparently risque comments about the on-screen action.
Most of the quips came in when the competition’s eventual winner, Dick Roper with his sheepdog Will, took centre stage.
Dick, who recently lost the sight in one of his eyes and so was facing extra challenges in his trial, was introduced by presenter Anita Rani who said: “Dick and his dogging could be tested to their limit.”
Co-host Matt Baker had taken up residence in the commentary box with commentator Andy Jackman and collapsed into giggles when Andy told him: “Dick is known as Lucky Dick, and there’s a long story behind that.”
In another part of the episode, Andy said of one of the trials: “He’s done a very good job, but unfortunately he should be dogging the two sheep, not the three.”
