Lady Colin Campbell refused to take part in her Bushtucker Trial, resulting in no stars for her hungry I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp mates.

The 66-year-old told presenters Ant and Dec: “I’m not starting it, sorry. I have a cousin who was murdered by being buried alive. I’m not doing anything that is coffin-like or involves coffins.”

The public had voted for the author, dubbed Lady C on the ITV show, to do the Bushtucker Trial after seeing a VT of Panic Pit.

“I’m really sorry about this. I would gladly be a sport,” she told the Geordie duo.

Panic Pit involved getting into a hole in the ground and crawling through a tunnel. Once inside, the door would be closed.

For every minute endured, the reward was a star for camp.

Lady C later explained why there were no stars and consequently, no food. To their credit, the celebrities sympathised.

But she went on to clash with boxer Chris Eubank after he suggested penalties for camp mates who fail.

“I mean, give me a break!” she exclaimed. “The whole thing is just pathetic! Chris needs to learn a little humility.”

In an episode loaded with Lady C moments, she also disagreed with choreographer Brian Friedman about the best way to cook their basic ration of rice and beans.

“Dinner is going to be lovely,” enthused The X Factor star.

“It’s not. It’s going to be burnt and dreadful,” Lady C retorted. “Darling, all the optimism in the world is not going to turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse.”

Most Haunted star Yvette Fielding was visibly spooked by Ghost Train, the latest I’m A Celebrity challenge.

Jorgie Porter, George Shelley, Kieron Dyer, Brian and Yvette took part in the task to win meals for the older camp mates. Each participant peeled back a disc that revealed the face of the person whose meal they had to play for in the scary task.

Once seated in their bumper cars, complete with a skeleton as a passenger, they were slowly moved towards a dark chamber of horrors where they were blanketed with nasties including scorpions, rats and spiders.

Union J’s George covered up as much of himself as possible and screamed repeatedly as the cars advanced in the darkness.

TV presenter Yvette sang and yodelled off-key in terror before crying, “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!” She climbed out of her car and left her colleagues.

Poor Jorgie suffered as cockroaches crawled into every part of her body.

“They’re in my G-string!” she complained. “They’re in my bum hole!” At this point, she also shouted, “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!”

Meanwhile, Tony Hadley, Susannah Constantine, Duncan Bannatyne, Chris and Lady C took part in Scare Fair.

They had to sit in chairs and throw balls into the revolving heads of clowns in order to win a meal for their designated camp mate.

Tony, Chris and Susannah got three balls into their respective holes so the team scored three dinners out of five – the same result as the Ghost Train participants.

Later, Made in Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews, The Only Way Is Essex’s Ferne McCann and Geordie Shore’s Vicky Pattison joined the jungle show.

Their first challenge in Snake Rock was to light a camp fire, but it did not go well.

The three new celebrities will be going head to head in a Bushtucker Trial before they reach the other stars.

I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! is broadcast on ITV at 9pm.
