Anna Friel’s new drama Odyssey only just began on Sunday, but it has already been axed.
The thriller series – titled American Odyssey in the US – sees the former Brookside actress star as US army special ops member Odelle Ballard, who is the sole survivor of a drone attack in Mali, but has been reported dead after her team discovered a US terrorism funding conspiracy.
Variety has reported that NBC has decided not to renew the show for a second season.
Co-creator Peter Horton used Twitter to share his sadness at the news, along with other members of the cast and crew.
UK viewers were treated to a double episode as the series launched on BBC Two on Sunday night, just as the show wrapped up across the pond, and initial impressions showed we couldn’t wait to see more of the gripping story.
But UK viewers will have to be content with just one series.
