Expect the unexpected when British Sea Power take to the New Slang stage next Thursday.

The six-piece indie-rock band have a bit of a reputation for making their shows something to remember.

In the past they have managed to incorporate a demonstration of Cumbrian wrestling, a 10-foot bear wondering around the audience and keyboard player Phil Sumner even got knocked out when a stage dive went horribly wrong and no one caught him.

So something extraordinary is bound to happen.

The band played New Slang last February and return in support of their fourth album, the follow-up to the Mercury Music Prize-nominated Do You Like Rock Music? from 2008.

Valhalla Dancehall, recorded partly on the Isle of Skye, is released on Monday and has been produced by the band themselves alongside alternative rock band producer Graham Sutton Songs on the album include Mongk II, Georgie Ray and Cleaning Out the Rooms as well as the Living Is So Easy, the first single which came out back in October.

British Sea Power plus support from Bones, New Slang, The Hippodrome, St James Road, January 13, 9pm, £6. Visit newslangkingston.co.uk.
