When most artists tour their new album you normally find them trawling the trendy central London venues, but not Trevor Moss and Hannah-Lou.

Instead of Camden's Barfly or Roundhouse, the husband and wife folk duo will be unveiling songs from their upcoming second record in a set of 11 tin tabernacles dotted around the country - starting with one in Esher next Friday.

"We decided a long time ago that when we organised tours we weren't going to do the usual circuit," explains Trevor.

"We were in a band a while ago with whom we did a lot of touring and when that came to an end we decided we were fed up with that side of it all.

"So when we planned our debut record we organised a tour of village halls which was very successful.

"When you play in London you struggle to get 50 people but you play in places like Dilton Marsh you get a crowd of 200 because the whole village turns up.

"Some of the village halls we played in were tin tabernacles as well so when we started putting together this tour we thought we would try and do the whole thing in them."

Understandably, it took Trevor and Hannah, who have recently signed to record label Heavenly and supported The Magic Numbers on their UK tour, a lot of time in first finding the remaining tin tabernacles and then convincing the communities to let them play in them.

"It's been quite difficult but our experience from the village hall tour helped a lot," says Trevor.

"We found a book which was a pretty definite collection of tin tabernacles but although it was only written last year, a lot of them have since been knocked down or condemned.

"So we did a lot of searching around and one of the best tools we used was actually Google Street View.

"We spent hours searching the streets on there for them and you would either find one and be able to zoom in on the Reverend's number on the board outside, or there would be a big hole in the ground where one used to be.

"We managed to get contact details for about 40 venues and 30 were interested and we have got 11 happening.

"Most of them are controlled by village and parish councils and a lot of people are quite guarded but once they get used to the idea they are quite keen, plus we are sharing the money made towards the upkeep of the buildings as well."

The pair, accompanied by just acoustic guitars, will be signing songs from the album, due out the first week in May, with support from Pete Greenwood and Pepe Belmonte.
