Next year could be the start of a very big journey for London Blackmarket.

The four-piece, who play at the Watershed on Friday, will be going into the studio to start work on their debut album and lead singer Nicholas Long cannot wait.

"I hope it's going to be a big year," he says.

"We are looking at making the album in January and having it ready for release towards the end of the summer.

"We have got about three albums worth of songs because we are constantly writing, we are always down the studio.

"We don't take time off to chill out, we are pretty hardcore.

"There are quite a few festivals on the cards too we are hopefully going to play at."

The band, made up of Nicholas, bass player Dave Holland, guitarist Nicholas Gibbs and drummer Brad Verlander, formed just over 18 months ago in Essex and release their second single, The Hardest Stone to Throw, the Monday after they perform at Watershed in one of the night's organised by XfM DJ and Wimbledon resident John Kennedy.

As for how they would describe their sound, Nicholas is very against putting it in a particular genre and instead is very willing to let people make up their own minds.

"I hate putting labels on things and I don't really care for them," he said.

"I would rather people just decided for themselves at the gig or by listening to our songs on MySpace.

"From day one people haven't really known where to put us.

"I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing but I take it as a compliment.

"We are just really enjoying ourselves right now and doing what we love, writing and playing songs."
