Best Of albums used to be a one-off artists would do once their career was coming to a close, but these days they seem far too regular.

Even 10cc's Graham Gouldman seems to think so despite the fact the band released The Very Best of 10cc last month.

Asked if he was excited about it before its release, he said: "No, not really.

"It's been out before, they have just changed it slightly.

"I am pleased it is coming out but it's not new material."

When Gouldman, one of the founding members of the band in 1972, says it has been out before, he's not wrong.

This is technically the group's sixth version of a best of album, the last one being Greatest Hits...And More three years ago that was panned by fans and critics alike.

"It was a bit of a mish mash," he admitted.

"The record company was very keen for me to re-record some old songs and it didn't really work."

Formed 27 years ago as a four-piece made up of Gouldman, Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, the band enjoyed huge success in the 70s with songs like Donna, double Ivor-award-winning I'm Not in Love and Rubber Bullets.

Gouldman is now the only founding member remaining after Godley and Creme left in 1976 and Stewart officially ended his and Gouldman's on-off partnership in 1995.

That hasn't deterred the 63-year-old though, who continues to tour with drummer Paul Burgess and guitarist Rick Fenn, who both officially joined in 1976, as well as Mick Wilson and Mike Stevens.

"I will never get tired of touring, every performance is different and there are different reactions from people maybe hearing it for the first time," he said.

"We will do all the greatest hits at Fairfield, and quite a lot of album tracks too.

"We even do some requests if people have them."
