Just six months since coming together, Wimbledon band Gold Teeth is on the verge of great things.

With an XfM session being aired on Tuesday, ongoing discussions with multiple record labels, and a debut single in the pipeline, the foursome's success is scaring even them.

"It's crazy," says Jonny Tams, who provides the band's eccentric rhythmic synths that form the core of their music.

"We have been together since January so it has been quite short but it has kicked off quite quickly. John Kennedy first played one of our songs on XfM in March and we have done sessions there now.

"We have been talking to a lot of labels, and are possibly putting a single out ourselves, but we are just seeing how it goes right now playing gigs. We are not 100 per cent sure what is going to happen next."

The four members - Jonny, 23, lead vocalist Joe DaCosta, 21, guitarist Nick Rowson, 23 and Will Ritson, 19, the drummer - all studied at Wimbledon College and met through the town's art circles having all been in other bands.

They are quite used to gigging and have played the Watershed many times before - however, their popularity does surprise them.

"I guess, having played at Watershed quite a few times before with other bands, it is not really a change to do it with Gold Teeth," explains Jonny.

"What is weird, though, is the amount of people who have been coming to the gigs. We literally filled the place up at the Camden gig although we didn't invite that many people."

The band's MySpace site describes their music as a mix of tropical, afro-beat and electronica - but Jonny, who says the band's ideal festival line-up would be Bjork, The Libertines, Metallica, and the Bryan Jones Town Massacre - finds it hard to define their sound.

He says, "It is kind of difficult to categorise what it is that we do. It's electro rock if you want to be really blunt but we are trying to do something different.

"Our drummer comes from a jazz background and our singer is into indie rock. We listen to different things but swap what we like with each other. We have quite a large range of stuff."
