The Arts Council are backing innovative south London band Poeticat for a residency at The Windmill in Brixton this autumn.
The five piece, who have performed at Glastonbury, Latitude, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and E4 Udderbelly, combine perform spoken word, with vocal harmony and eclectic musical accompaniment.
Compared loosely to Scroobious Pip, Kate Nash and The Maccabees, they’ve already built a strong local fanbase and the Arts Council hope their gigs, starting on Saturday, August 24 at The Windmill, will increase interest in their music.
Hugo White of The Maccabees called them: "A uniquely individual and odd group, creating original music that defies any genre & creates its own."
