Former Teacher of Art at St Marks Academy in Mitcham, now full time Croydon based artist and founder of Juxtaposed Gallery; Ian Barrington delivered an artist talk and mini exhibition of his works to the year 10 and 6th form art students at St Marks Academy during which he discussed his work and an insight if they chose to follow a career into the visual arts.
Ian also donated resources to the art department and introduced to the students and school a unique opportunity to partake in an exhibition alongside established artists from here in the UK, one of which London artist Frances Bloomfield successfully shows at the Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead, also artists from across Europe to include Germany, Greece and Sweden.
A number of keen students collaborated, as artists in their own right, taking to the opportunity with their own concepts working to the guide of Fritz Lang's 1927 visionary film Metropolis. Ian's desire is to continue the project long term to give the students with artistic aspirations an attainable direction, confidence in their ability as well as further gained social professional interaction.
The artwork can be seen at Lauderdale House, Highgate Hill, London. N6 5HG until July 21st.
