Clapham's Comedy Carnival is celebrating it's fifth birthday this Saturday with an evening of outstanding comedy.

Multi award-winning and Radio 4 regular Milton Jones, Perrier award nominee Terry Alderton and brilliant Canadian comic Tom Stade will all be taking to the stage at Wessex House on an evening hosted by the club's founder and runner, entertaining Australian joker Pete Jonas.

Originally set up to showcase New Zealand and Australian comedy half a decade ago, the venue soon became renowned for emerging and established acts from all around the world.

Among the impressive list of names to have played there are The Flight of the Conchords, Russell Brand, Michael McIntyre, Stephen K Amos, Rhod Gilbert, Reginald D Hunter, Andrew Maxwell, Phil Nichol, Lucy Porter and Mark Watson.

Such has been its success, the Comedy Carnival is expanding on its birthday, opening up a Comedy Carnival West End in Piccadilly on July 4.

Alongside Alderton at the Banana Cabaret this weekend will be Gavin Webster and Addy Van Der Bough, with Joe Rowntree joining on Saturday.

At Jongleurs Battersea, Sarah Millican, Philberto, Scott Agnew, Karl Spain and Tony Woods will be the entertainers on Friday night, with Martin Hill and Adam Bloom replacing Millican and Agnew in Saturday's line-up.

At the Comedy Tree Putney, Barry Castagnola, Michael Smiley, Pippa Evans and Erich McElroy will provide the jokes on Saturday, with Milton Jones, Smiley, Gordon Southern and Bryan Lacey at the Wimbledon branch.
