The University of the Creative Arts will be leading an interactive Big Swim project encouraging the public to get involved with the London 2012 games. A unique live art installation which will form part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, the Big Swim gives people the chance to swim in a cloud of light and colour based on the five Olympic colours. Visual artist, Tine Bech who created the installation and is based at UCA Farnham, said: “The Big Swim is a unique opportunity for the public to immerse themselves quite literally in the London 2012 Games. “The Olympic colours are iconic, so I am hoping that the fog and light will create a memorable experience for those taking part or watching.” The Big Swim is supported by the Creative Campus Initiative (CCI), a collection of 11 universities across the South East, including the University for the Creative Arts. The Big Swim will kick off at Camberwell Leisure Centre in London on Saturday July 23 before arriving at Barton Leisure Centre in Oxford on Sunday July 24. Participant must be over 8 years old and under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult who is over the age of 18 and a competent swimmer. For more information, visit thebigswim.co.uk
