Just as Wimbledon tennis fortnight sees us brushing off a dusty racket and heading to the nearest court to attempt an over arm serve, cult show Dancing On Ice sees fans heading to Streatham Ice Arena for a quick whizz around the rink.

But for those who fancy leaving the blisters behind, and who would rather tap their feet along to the familiar intro to the Bolero than attempt to fall gracefully on to the ice, then the live version of the ITV1 show is for you.

The 25 Dancing On Ice tour, showcasing the stars of the 2010 series and the undeniable talent of British legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, kicked off in Sheffield on Thursday and is heading for London’s O2 Arena this Friday.

Over five days and seven performances, series winner Hayley Tamaddon will be joined by Emily Atack, Clare Buckfield, Gaynor Faye, Chris Fountain, Boyzone’s Mikey Graham, Gary Lucy, last year’s winner Ray Quinn and the professional performers, to skate routines choreographed by the rink royalty.

However it won’t just be the skating stars capturing the attention of the crowds.

Panto star and one time King of the Jungle, Christopher Biggins, has joined the judging panel and will be filling the comedy void for those who may have hoped to see Todd Carty stumble his way back into the limelight.

He will sit alongside Kyran Bracken – 2007 Dancing On Ice champ – and the show’s regular judges Karen Barber and Nicky Slater, while Andi Peters (the celebrity who did break a bone in training for the show) will be directing the proceedings.

Biggins said: "I am thrilled to be on the judging panel of Dancing On Ice Tour this year. I'm very much looking forward to joining the celebrity skaters and their partners in all their sparkling refinery, as we take this favourite show of mine on the road to arena audiences all over the UK."

As with the ITV1 series, audience members will help decide the winner, texting a vote for their favourite couple that will be added to the judge’s score.

Once the votes have been counted, the winning celebrity will join their skating partner to perform in the finale – a take on the Bolero which saw Torvill and Dean scoop an Olympic gold medal 26 years ago.

And it’s good news for charities too, with all profits from the text voting going to good causes. To date an impressive £80,000 has been raised.

Reviews for the live show have so far been rapturous so if you already have your ticket, you’d be right to feel a tad smug. If not then log on to www.dancingonicetour.co.uk or call 08444 99 99 55.

After London, the tour continues to Manchester, Nottingham – home of Torvill and Dean – Birmingham and Belfast.
