Hip hop Icon Sway, soul diva Diane Shaw, Romeo & Juliet and Dracula are just some of the new events announced in Croydon Clocktower's new autumn season.

The events, which include music, theatre, dance and comedy, begins with a do-it-yourself performance by of Stan's Cafe's Odyssey Steps, in which the not quite theatre show is designed to be performed by the audience.

Inspired by teach-yourself-to-dance floor mats it enables the re-enactment of Ulysses' epic Odyssey complete with monsters, battles and shipwrecks.

The music line-up is particularly strong this season, on top of Sway and Diane Shaw, there is also artists as diverse as folk legend Martin Carthy, Mercury Music Prize nominees Polar Bear, local favourites The Tunics and classical music from the London Mozart Players.

The theatre bill includes a compelling combination of reinvented classics (Romeo and Juliet, A Taste of Honey, Dracula, Cloning Mary Shelley and The Three Musketeers), personal drama (My Grandfather's Great War, Bully and The 14th Tale) and new works (Forgotten Things, Moonfleet, The Shadow of Picture Frames and Sherlock Homes...The Death and Life), while stand-up comedy is provided by comedy circuit regular Patrick Monahan.

Children are catered for with adaptations of Burglar Bill, Big Ugly Monster (which features the voice, although not the body, of Rik Mayall), Little Hippo, His Magic Pen and Hansel and Gretel. And dance lovers can chose between performances by some impressive, emerging dance companies or can get involved themselves at one of the 1940's dance classes being held by Simon Selmon and The London Swing Society.

The season closes with the Clocktower's young Arts Ambassadors IGNiTE 4, a night of music, films and performance created by young people, for young people.
