Music - Folk & Country
Les Barker at Croydon Folk Club

Les Barker, poet, humorist, true eccentric, has graced UK and world stages for >45 years Initially appearing mainly with his dog Mrs Ackroyd, he has gone on to collaborate with musicians such as June Tabor and Maartin Alcock. His solo albums include ‘The War On Terrier’ and ‘Dark Side Of The Mongrel’
Originally from Manchester, he was an accountant before becoming a ‘professional idiot’
He’s written 77 books. People buy them in huge numbers, to check what they’ve just heard. His poems have spawned a number of folk heroes: Jason and the Arguments, Cosmo the Fairly Accurate Knife Thrower, Spot of the Antarctic
His side-splitting poems and his elevation of the pun to new heights ensures an unforgettable if baffling evening
