ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) THE A120 TRUNK ROAD (COLCHESTER TO HARWICH, ESSEX] (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 202
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A120 Trunk Road in Essex to enable carriageway resurfacing and general routine maintenance activities to be carried out in safety.
The phased works are expected to take place overnight (9.30pm to 6am) and to last for approximately 3 months, starting on or after Monday 5 October 2020.
The effect of the Order on the A120, would be to -
1. Impose, for 24 hours daily, in conjunction with lane closures, a temporary mandatory speed limit of -
   .1 40 miles per hour on the -
- eastbound and westbound carriageways from the B1035 Horsley Cross Roundabout for a distance of 2950 metres, and
- eastbound and westbound carriageways between the B1352 Ramsey Roundabout and Parkeston Road Roundabout, and

1.2 50 miles per hour on the -
- eastbound carriageway between 1315 metres west and 205 metres east of the point where the A120-A133 link road at Hare Green, diverges from the main carriageway,
- westbound carriageway from Harwich Road roundabout to 450 metres west of the point where the A133-A120 link road at Hare Green and the main carriageway merge,
- link road from the A120 eastbound carriageway to the A133 at Hare Green, from its point of diverge from the A120 eastbound to Harwich Road underbridge, and
- link road from the A133 at Hare Green to the A120 westbound carriageway, from Harwich Road bridge to its point of merge with the A120 westbound.

2. close the -
   2.1 link roads to and from the A133 at Hare Green, diverting eastbound traffic to continue eastbound on the A120 to the B1035 Horsley Cross roundabout then via the B1035, B1033 and A133 to Hare Green; vice versa for westbound traffic,
   2.2 eastbound and westbound carriageways between Crown Interchange and the B1035 Horsley Cross roundabout, including, at Crown Interchange, the A120 eastbound entry slip road from the A1232 roundabout, diverting eastbound traffic via the A1232, A133, B1033 and B1035 to re-join the A120 at Horsley Cross Roundabout; vice versa for westbound traffic.
   2.3 eastbound and westbound carriageways between the B1035 Horsley Cross roundabout and Cansey Lane, Manningtree, diverting eastbound traffic via the B1035 and B1352 to re-join the A120 at Ramsey roundabout; westbound traffic via the B1352, B1414, B1033 and A133 to re-join A120 at Hare Green, and
   2.4 eastbound and westbound carriageways between the B1352 Ramsey roundabout and Parkeston Road roundabout, diverting traffic via the B1352 and Parkeston Road and vice versa,

During the closures, all lay-bys and gaps in the central reservation adjacent to those lengths of A120 described at 2 above would remain closed for 24 hours daily.
Access to some side roads would be restricted at times at their junctions with the A120.
Access to property would be maintained for the duration of the works and vehicles requiring access would be escorted safely through the works. The temporary mandatory speed limits (which would not apply to emergency service or special forces vehicles), closures (which would not apply to emergency service, traffic officer, or works vehicles) and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs. The Order would come into force on 5 October 2020 and may continue in force until the works detailed above have been completed, or for a maximum duration of eighteen months, whichever is the earlier.
