A visit to the wonderful London Wetland Centre is always rewarding, not only for the fantastic birdlife but in their appropriate seasons, dragonflies, butterflies and wild flowers.
Now, a new and fresh dimension has been added in the form of giant creatures made out of lego bricks, the world's favourite toy.
An otter, Bewick's swan, dragonfly, mallard duck and a range of water birds, all beautifully and accurately modelled now grace the centre on an exciting wetland animal trail.
Armed with a special form provided, children are encouraged to follow the trail, tick off each creature found and learn all about it from the accompanying information board.
The idea is to create a greater awareness and understanding for both children and adults .Some of the giant animals are over twelve times life-size.
The otter took 120 hours building time and used 15,500 bricks while the Bewick's swan (pictured) used up 8,500 bricks and was completed in 95 hours.
In addition to finding the ten creatures ranged around the trail there will be Lego brick workshops at weekends and during October half term at which competitions will be held.
The Lego creatures will be displayed at the Wetland Centre until November 8.
For further information phone the centre on 020 8409 4405.
Prepare to be amazed.
