Letter to the Editor: Green party result was good in Merton and Wandsworth despite tough times

Thank you to the thousands of people who voted for the Green Party in the GLA elections.
Although in Merton and Wandsworth our share of the poll dropped slightly since 2008, we feel that the result was satisfactory.
The Green vote tends to go up when people are feeling optimistic and fall when they feel squeezed, so under the circumstances it's good to know that so many people voted for the only party which offers a real alternative.
We will continue to work for greater equality and a more sustainable way of life.
