On Saturday 4 January 2012, 31 youth from the London Mosque went to Oaklands Farm in Hampshire to plant 500 trees as part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Associations National Tree Planting Programme for this year in conjunction with the Woodlands Trust. The event started with silent prayer after which markers were laid out for the trees and shrubs. After this youth were divided into groups with each group allocated trees or shrubs to plant. For all those present this was an amazing experience. Local youth leader, Majeed Bhatti said: "Giving to and serving the local community is an essential part of being a Muslim. Islam teaches you to respect your environment and to serve mankind."
