Mental Health Befriending Scheme for Sutton
2:22pm Monday 14th May 2012 in Sutton
The Merton Branch of the Association for Pastoral Care in Mental Health (a Registered Charity) has for over 20 years run a voluntary befriending scheme to help adults with mental health problems living in the community in Merton and neighbouring districts. To meet growing local demand we are now actively looking for volunteers from Sutton. We are holding a free training course, only 9 hours in total, in early July. We only accept referrals of those who need our service from professionals in the Care Services, and we have safety and support procedures in place. The commitment to befriending can readily be handled by persons working full time – the time you spend is up to you. It can be personally rewarding, and makes a real difference to the person you befriend.
