10:28am Friday 10th February 2012 in Richmond
Ken Livingstone was the special guest of Richmond Park Labour Party at its annual dinner last week on 2 February.
The dinner was held at the London Welsh Rugby Club in Kew Road, Richmond, with over 40 local members present. Guests also included Seema Malhotra, the recently-elected MP for nearby Feltham and Heston, and Lisa Homan, Labour’s local candidate for the GLA elections in May.
Ahead of the election, Ken has made key policy pledges around transport and crime. Under his Fare Deal plan he will cut transport fares by 7%, thereby saving the average Londoner £1000 over the next four years, and his Policing Pledge will see the 1,700 officer posts that Boris Johnson has cut being restored.
After the meal, Ken spoke about his priorities for London, including the urgent need to provide more affordable housing for rent.
While answering questions, he also outlined his vision for London to become a world leader in sustainable public transport, by developing technology now available to build electric buses.
