The Kingston Big Wheel Cartwheel with Charlie Murphy Sat 21 July 3pm Fairfield Park Be part of the Stanley Picker Gallery & International Youth Arts Festival celebrations leading up to the London 2012 Olympics.
Artist Charlie Murphy is looking to recruit up to 300 local gymnasts, dancers and athletes to form a spectacular chain of human locomotion to take place in Kingston. Everyone will learn simple choreographed movements at the following introductory gym and dance club sessions: Introductory Sessions: *Weekday Evenings/Weekends in June – Penrhyn Rd Fitness Studio Rehearsal & Filming Sessions: 25-27 June (after school) - Kingston University Studios Full Dress Rehearsal: Wed 18 July 6-8pm Kingston College Arena Sports Hall Final Live Performance: Sat 21 July 3pm Fairfield Park, Kingston upon Thames *Dates and times to be confirmed.

All participants will need to attend 2 rehearsal sessions and the live performance. Some rehearsals are being filmed to create a video to be shown at Kingston Museum accompanying the exhibition Olympic Celebration: Athletes in Motion.
The Kingston Big Wheel forms part of No Competition! a programme of free off-site events exploring the relationship between art and non-competitive sport, staged by the Stanley Picker Gallery at Kingston University whilst the venue is closed for refurbishments.
