West Ewell Allotment Association celebrate members 90th birthday

Ruth with her Cake
On Friday the 15th of June the Chairman of the West Ewell Allotment Association, Malcolm Sagar, Event Secretary, Jane Crouch, and member Stephen Jay and Natalie Thornton suprised Ruth Butcher at her home for her 90th birthday. Ruth has held her plot on the West Ewell site since 1955, and when her husband passed away in 1969 she continued to work the plot on her own. This is a remarkable achievement and the WEAA felt they should mark the occasion with a book written by member Stephen Jay on allotments and a cake made with the design of an allotment made by members Susan Thornton, Natalie Thornton, and Jane Crouch.
