Wandsworth parking permit renewals

This year Wandsworth Council have decided not to send out renewal notices for residents parking permits. We and apparently many others have recently been hit with a £60 ticket for failing to renew on time.

Our local parking attendant told us this morning that he has been handing out "hundreds" of tickets to residents who would usually renew on time but have been caught out this year by the unannounced change in policy!

As any resident will know, for at least the last 18 years Wandsworth have sent renewal reminders and we therefore use this as our reminder each year to renew.

This is either a cost-saving scheme gone horribly wrong or a cynical attempt to extract more cash from residents - either way it's an appalling way to manage a council. Wandsworth residents need to stand up to this bullying - refuse to pay, complain, make them back down!!!

My neighbour and myself both received two parking tickets each on consecutive days due to our permits expiring and no reminders being sent. Upon appeal WBC cancelled the first ticket and want payment for the other ticket. Unfortunately I already paid - however see ing this article and now understanding this is wide spread I would have refused and appeared in court.

I have submitted this article to WBC online complaints asking for a refund.
