Another successful Surrey League campaign for The Stragglers

Stragglers’ men’s team ensured a third consecutive year in division one of the Surrey Cross Country League finishing 8th on Saturday at the race in Wimbledon Common, though the margin could hardly have been closer, narrowly beating Clapham Chasers by 2,117 points to 2,119. They were led home by Justin West in 18th place in a time of 29:31, followed by James Flood in 30th and Graham Brook in 32nd. Their fourth finisher and first veteran over 40 was Mark Gray in 54th place.

Stragglers men’s team finished in 7th place in the League ahead of Clapham Chasers and Dorking & Mole Valley AC who finished in eighth and ninth places respectively and were both relegated. Herne Hill Harriers comfortably retained their division one title from Thames Hare & Hounds.

The cross country season concludes on 25th February with the National Cross Country Champs at Parliament Hill.
