As the oil reserves on the planet are depleted daily and disasters such as the BP Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico attracts international attention, businesses are seeking various means of reducing their energy bills. To this end, The Sutton Chamber of Commerce in the London borough of Sutton, Surrey is hosting One Green Planet, an ECO exhibition and seminar to help companies address this issue. Ten speakers are scheduled to speak.
Sutton Chamber of Commerce hopes that participants at this event will share practical energy tips in a general discussion segment of the event. In addition, businesses in the energy conservation business will be introducing their products and services that reduce the costs of utility bills, enhance energy usage, improve building efficiency, reduce carbon output and help businesses to ‘go green’. Vice chair of Sutton Chamber Paul Cawthorne commented, “We believe that this is the first event taking place under David Cameron’s ‘Big Society’ challenge for Sutton.” From this meeting of minds, the Chamber hopes to produce a Greening Business Directory. One Green Planet will take place on Friday July 23rd at the Sutton Tennis Academy, Rose Hill Park and is free to businesses.
There is a networking element to the event as businesses from the surrounding boroughs of Kingston, Reigate and Banstead, Mitcham, Merton, Bromley and Croydon have been invited to attend. Companies already taking up the invitations and registered to attend are as diverse as logistics, energy conservation, transportation, lighting, IT solutions, marketing and even a company involved in the fashion industry. The event will culminate with a free lunch, compliments of Sutton Chamber and the Sutton Tennis Academy. Businesses interested in attending need to pre-register on the Sutton Chamber’s website at www.suttonchamebr.co.uk or by contacting the Chamber’s office administrator.
Sutton Chamber hosts a number of activities to help support its members and businesses in Sutton and surrounding London Boroughs in their business activities by providing networking events, lobbying, introductions, business training and hosts a monthly VIP Breakfast where gust speakers are invited to speak on topical or business topics. The Sutton Chamber of Commerce also serves as a signpost for new businesses to the community.
