This summer, Gorilla Circus- “The primal side of circus” was flying around London on their brand new outdoor trapeze rig. Ezra Trigg created this company which runs flying trapeze classes for all ages.
I attended many of the classes and it was certainly an adrenalin pumping experience!
After warming up, learning the safety rules and practicing a trick on the static trapeze, we transferred up to the flying trapeze. Everyone had the chance to practice the trick, with a safety line and without the catch. At the end of the session, we performed the trick with the catch at the end. The picture shows that it really is a leap of faith! Climbing the 30 ft step ladder up to a small platform, suspended in the air is just the beginning. You are standing of the platform, waiting for Ezra’s call of “Ready…” you bend your knees, and “Hup” ,you spring up and off the platform and find yourself hurtling through space .Once you have thrown all caution to the wind, the feeling is exhilarating! Hook your knees over the bar, let go of your hands, reach out and kick your legs off the bar. You swing off your trapeze and hurtle through the air, hopefully, make the catch. If you miss, you fall to the net, perfectly safe, and try again!
I thoroughly recommend this breathtaking, exhilarating and unusual activity to anyone who wants to try something new and fly!
