On 13th January, the bus strikes affected all operators in London, leading to severely reduced services. The strike lasted for 24 hours on Tuesday and ended at midnight.

The strike did have affect on myself as I had no option but to be dropped to school by car. Oddly the journey was rather speedy with less traffic and no buses in sight. I saw numerous people walking or cycling. Not only was I affected by the strikes, but several students in my school were also disadvantaged especially when they were not able to take another route to school other than the bus.

Bus strikes are not just about drivers; they are about the effect it has on people who have no other option than to take to public transport. Commuters are truly at more of a loss than the bus drivers.

I think that bus strikes should only be permitted to commence on Sundays; when schools are closed and fewer people are working which means that fewer people would have to take public transport, and be delayed. There is a lot of inconvenience caused by bus strikes; a resolution to this problem would undoubtedly be if they happened on Sundays instead!
