Last month Kingston University opened up its brand new student accommodation at One Penrhyn Road and Davidson House (3-5 Penrhyn Road). It is an ideal location for students, being approximately a 2 minute walk from Penrhyn Road University Campus, which is a base for any students studying subjects from Arts and Social Sciences to Mathematics and Statistics. Millions of pounds has been spent here on teaching and learning facilities in recent years, so it includes plentiful science laboratories, lecture theatres and library facilities amongst many other essential resources.

The new flats are situated five minutes from the local train station and other facilities in Kingston town centre, which will be extremely helpful and efficient for the students, as well as providing them with accessible entertainment such as shopping and clubbing. Additionally there is a choice of rooms available in the building from en suite rooms in shared apartments to individual en suite studios, all with luxurious double beds, lots of storage space and additional desk space. And very appealingly to students, being the younger generation, there is free Wi-Fi! As a matter of fact, rent includes all Wi-Fi, contents insurance and bills, making it of exceptional value, especially for a student.

One first-year student having just exited One Penrhyn Road expressed that although the property consisted of small apartments, it was sufficient space for her to adapt to and live alone under a very reasonable price. She told me of the common room with a TV that brought everyone in the building together, making it more homely, and she also emphasised her delight at the ease of getting to the Penrhyn Road Campus where she studies Surveying. Her enthusiasm highlighted to me that this was indeed a worthy investment of Kingston University, and besides the properties are aesthetically pleasing, being modern and yellow with large windows creating plenty of light. A fitting location for students of 2014/15!
