Dreams, we all have them, some are nicer than others but they are usually quite weird. Dreams come in the form of thoughts, images or sensations running through your head when you are sleeping. They are fascinating and have inspired many sci-fi movies like the popular ‘Inception’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

We all have dreams; we have about three to seven dreams a night. All dreams are different, some people dream in colour others dream in black and white. Men are more likely to dream about other men whereas, women dream about men and women equally. Some of most common dreams are related to school, arriving late, falling, running slowly, being chased, teeth falling out, a car accident, failing an exam or about someone who is alive but is dead in the dream. Dreams are usually not the most pleasant of experiences.

Do they actually mean anything, or are they just a fragment of our imagination? Dreams are symbolic; see them as metaphors in a poem trying to present your life in a way where you have to search for the deeper meaning. Some people believe it is a way in which God is trying to tell them something. But then again, how can dreams be important if we forget ninety per cent of it?

I always find that my dreams are rather weird and I always wonder how these thoughts even enter my head. In the past I have dreamt about bright sunlight shining on my face almost blinding me whether I was indoors or outdoors, it was rather odd to be honest. I searched online and there are many interpretations of different symbolic meanings.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could control your dreams? You could dream about spending a day with your idol or spending a few moments with a person who has passed away. This is proven to be possible with practise. Lucid dreaming is where you are aware that you are dreaming while you are asleep and you can put certain people or places in your dream. To have a lucid dream you need to observe, recall and then be able to control your dream.
