Banstead Rotary members are preparing for a variety of community service and fund-raising projects during 2015.

Rotary gives everything to charity and we have raised thousands of pounds over the years, with none of our members taking a penny for themselves. We are also careful to see that the money we raise goes to the people who need it. The money from our Christmas collections goes to local charities, and we also do fundraising for the third world throughout the year e.g. sending Shelter Boxes to places like the Philippines after disasters, so peoples’ lives will be changed for the better. If you want to give money to charity you can be sure if you do it via Rotary none of the money goes into members’ pockets and we pass every penny raised to local charities. We try to ensure that the money gets to people who really need it!

We will start our charity work in March. 'Banstead Rotary supports The Marsden March by stewarding the route with other volunteers. The Marsden March is a 14-mile or a 5-mile sponsored walk between The Royal Marsden’s hospitals in Chelsea and Sutton. Over the last four years this event has raised an amazing £4.5 million to help build a future beyond cancer. The 2015 event will take place on Sunday, 22 March.

We will then manage Banstead’s Stroke Awareness Day on Saturday 4th April 2015 at All Saints Church Hall. 2015 will mark the 12th year of the Rotary partnership with The Stroke Association. Banstead Rotary once again are bringing this opportunity to Know your blood pressure’ to our local community. High blood pressure now accounts for nearly 50% of all strokes, and yet is easily treatable. We want to do what we can to raise awareness of this and continue to help with the prevention of strokes by targeting some of the 16-million people in the UK with high blood pressure Banstead Rotary Charity Walk takes place on Sunday 10th May with the start/finish at Tattenham Corner from the Rotary marquee. Run over the last 21 years, this sponsored walk over about 7 miles takes you through beautiful Downs’ countryside and offers a superb opportunity to raise funds for your favourite charity alongside Rotary charities. An event for all the family!

Banstead Village Day is our next project on: Saturday 11th July at The Orchard in Banstead High Street (In front of All Saints Church). Show your support and have fun!

This is a 'traditional' Village Fair organised by Banstead Rotary with over 30 local organisations and charities running their own stalls or sideshows to raise funds. Includes attractions such as the bouncy castle, splat the rat, cakes, preserves, books, crafts, bric-a-brac, tombola, competitions and much more. Today’s fair is an opportunity for those organisations to promote themselves and raise funds for their great variety of projects, and for members of the public to enjoy themselves and contribute.

Banstead Rotary will be inviting two speakers a month to meetings, one from a charity, the other on matters of general interest and intend to run several purely social and fun events each year as usual such as a Barn Dance in March which is raising money for Children in Africa (Marys Meals) and then a Race night at Cuddington Golf Club which will also raise money for the same charity.

Banstead Rotary is a very friendly Club and is always pleased to welcome non-members to their meetings.
